May Day Weekend

well, this has indeed been a long weekend.

well, maybe it was a good thing that i didn't go on a road trip.
been doing loads of stuff this weekend. pretty eventful.

saturday, meet up with some friends- maybe about 12 of us, went for a drink in a different neighbourhood kreuzberg, (for once, it was not prenzlauer berg, friedrichshain area) really nice, had a bratwurst mit brot- my first in berlin (can u believe it? i have been here for 2 months and i've only just tried for the first time the famous berlin hotdog) and then we went to a club. great night, albeit a little tiring.

sunday, went to Mauerpark in prenzlauer- a huge park with an amphitheatre. and there was music and drums and a lot of germans being rowdy. hah. it was a protest. well, it was the party before the protest, or something like that. well, apparently in Europe, people almost always protest on eve of or on May day. an excuse to get drunk (well, i think an excuse is not needed, haha) so it was really interesting for me, you know, considering the number of protests i have been involved in, well, not really involved but rather spectated. police were everywhere and there were lots and lots of police vehicles. and i didn't know that there was gonna be a protest. heard that it is/will be worse tonight. (today is monday) Police and the people fight. throwing stones and all. but its normal you know, protests and all. and the fighting too. it's strange, isn't it.
and the best part, the fighting is not spontaneous. they are supposed to fight. it's somewhat expected. its like the police brace themselves for this, knowing that this will happen and they have to get this over and done with. almost like taking an injection. and the people know that this is the night to go throw stones and fight. sounds inane right? i left pretty early on Sunday night and i didn't stay to see what happened next. well, if its anything interesting, i'll let you know.

monday, woke up early and went to Potsdam. with Lara, Aurora, Phaedra, Franklin, Clement, Victoria and her friend. will post pictures on that. most of the pictures of me in them are in my friend's camera. will be a million years before i can get my hands on those. so u can all dang gu gu. really beautiful day though. will blog more on that with the pics.

i'm tired. that's why i'm not in the streets protesting and throwing stones. hahah, no lah. its just that after last night, ich habe kein Lust fuer die zweite installment. its a little intimidating seeing the police and vehicles and the big lights. exciting and thrilling but scary. but a little pointless, you think? violence and drunkeness.

ok, i'm really tired now. if i have more to say, i'll do so the next time.
tomorrow - school starts again! 10am class!

-------------------------

just realised that i'm such a lazy bum when it comes to speaking german. for me, if the person cant speak english, i'll speak german. and the words will come slightly easier. (it's difficult still!!!) compared to the people whom i know speak english - i just can't speak german to them. really! the words just wont come. and i feel guilty.

and another thing. i'm getting slightly tired of staying in a residence. i have to be social and say hi when i meet people in the corridoor even if i'm dead tired or when i just dont feel like talking to people. (for example, when i just wake up or something)

hahahah... enough of the whine-y talk. sleep. now.
