Orientation
Yes, it's orientation. school is starting soon. finally.
most of the modules that i'm taking are in german, guess that's the fastest way to learn the language. i finished one module already though and i had the exam yesterday. it was the german lang intensive course and the slackest module i have ever done in my whole uni life. the exam consisted of reading a short passage and having a discussion with the teacher about it. it was over in like 15mins. it was hard though, because i didn't understand what she was asking me at one point and i was like arghh... but it was fine in the end i think. hee
today was orientation and it was ok. met some new friends but as usual, didn't really talk much as my conversational range in german is really short/small. i saw some friends who i have not seen since the first week here and it was really nice seeing them again. sometimes, i get confused whether to talk to certain people in english or german because for some people, they really want to speak german all the time and all that, but that is just way too tiring for me. i only speak german all the time to people who cannot speak english, which is good enough for me.
and i met a really nice prc guy in my hostel who says he will let me practice my chinese with him! yay. and he said that my chinese is good. haha. so i get to improve my chinese here as well!
some of my friends were commenting on the various accents we have here among us. because, for me, i find it extremely difficult to understand some people's german due to their accents. but i'm not the only one. most importantly, they say that my german is understandable but i definitely have an asian accent. On when i'm speaking english, they say that i speak in a more sing-song accent than other native english speakers. (i think, i can consider myself as a native english speaker, no?) And i was like really??? And they say that i speak really fast sometimes but will slow down and/or go higher to emphasize certain words. cool eh? like music, they say. hahaha.
will be off to prague in 2 days. yay.
and i'm off to salsa now. (i think?)
